This old guitar…..

On gifts ….I want to share that we all have gifts inside us from God almighty. I can’t speak for you, but I don’t feel happy or fullfilled if I’m not using the gifts God put inside me.

I think one of mine is “encouragment” ……

Through the years “this old guitar” has travelled with me to the houses of friends and so many places. I learned to play guitar when I was about 17 teaching myself with a John Denver Song book. I took my guitar to the air force the very first song I learned was a Lutheran Camp song called “Allelu” And even before I gave my heart to Jesus I sang that song, just because I loved it.

I would try to play with other musicians and could not keep up, or didn’t know the chords. Over the years I prayed and struggled to learn songs now I probably know over 100. I know how to read chords, but there are still some I can’t quite play so I learned how to get around it. I’ve sang for my grandkids and at my daughter’s wedding which was a privilege.

I have gone to rest homes and state homes and I’ve played on the street and all by myself on the deck. My guitar went with me to fill in as music teacher and to my dad’s house to play and I’ve sang for my mom and her cousin and her friends that visited from out of town.

My gift goes with me wherever I go. It’s not limited to the walls of a church building. This lesson came from not being able to sing in church for a long time because either I was not needed or work would not allow me to go their practice times.

I have my favorite songs, but I’ve learned to surrender my gift to the Lord now. I ask him what songs should I play? What would truly help someone today? Or maybe I shouldn’t sing at all because it’s someone else’s turn.

You all know I’m a preacher on growing. I am humble enough to admit I had some really bad “little kid fits” over not getting to use my gift when I wanted to at times. The key is to stay ready, keep on letting God teach, train and coach you……be ready for the opportunity he allows. If we do that, His river of life will surely see to it that we use the gifts he’s put inside of us! And there is nothing More fullfilling than doing what we were called to do.

The outer outfield….When you feel you do not make a difference, You do!

Baseball on fireHi, Laura Grace here! Yes Here I am writing this blog post this morning. I have a lot to do! I don’t have any fans screaming “Please Laura” write another blog! (Ha ha) but nevertheless, here I am, doing it!

Why? Because the Lord put on my heart, some out there feel “they do not” make a difference! Honestly, I am not a baseball fan, but I have played baseball. I was not too good at hitting, so when I was in school, at camp, or anywhere “sports” were played, I was always chosen last, to be on the team. They knew I was bad at it!

But I do remember someone telling me once, “even outer outfield” is important. If the ball comes your way, catch it, throw it, and get it back in the game!”

You take out the trash, pay the bills, go to work each day (8 hours, ten hours) get the oil changed in your car, go to the doctor, sweep the sidewalk, and the list goes on and on.

We have to remember (WE DO) Make a difference! Someone is watching, to see if we give up! Yes, it’s true many do not appreciate the sun “unless” It stops shining! Don’t let that sway you! If an outer outfielder can make a difference, so can you! There is always that possibility, one day, a life will be saved because of you, or a game may be won!

When we hear the passage “do not grow weary of doing good” For we will reap a harvest, (if we faint not) we need to remember, the harvest may be a soul, (just one soul, redeemed by Jesus) just one! Would you do it all, for just one person? I Hope so! Because Jesus would have done it for you! He wouldn’t say “Well no if only one gets saved, the deal is off Father!” (and not go to the cross?)

Don’t kid yourself! Jesus doesn’t think like we do sometimes! He isn’t selfish, he isn’t into notoriety. All He wants is ………..for us to listen to him. “Let the children come to me” he said, Let the “leper be cleansed” Let that “woman caught in adultery go free” ……..

He visited that tax collector, that nobody liked! #MYJESUS changing lives, through you, and through me! Isn’t it grand? YOU DO MAKE A DIFFERENCE! (you outer outfielder you!)

The Great Falling Away……or just falling away……

ROSE IN THE LIGHT!

Matthew 7:27
And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.
Most everyone who is a christian has heard of the great falling away.
Do you actually know the main reason this is going to happen? The
main reason is because of bad teachings and people choosing to have
faith about things that are “other’ than what God actually was telling
them to do! This Relationship is “everything” that we talk about is
far more (FAR MORE) Important than most really do realize.

If you don’t hear from God and you don’t understand how to build
your house according to his instructions- then IT WILL be built on sand.
In the case of the Titanic,  the captain was WARNED! (did you know this?) He
was warned and chose “not to listen’ so the boat sank!
The captain was warned, he did not listen. All the passengers suffered, as a result.

Do we really want to leave it all to chance? (As to whether our captain is right or wrong?)

I don’t know about you but I do not care to be on that type of boat, if I can help it.
Who is the captain of your ship?
I wrote the books I wrote because God asked me to, He said people needed to learn to walk with him in the coming (last) days……….
I know who my captain is (Jesus!) And it’s going to stay that way. 🙂 I want you to have the same exact blessing!
With love,
Laura Grace
