Fickle Feelings and your worth to God vs “self worth”…….:) What’s the difference?

anger 1 JEsus loves you

Most of the rage and anguish people experience is over some sort of injustice. “IT”S NOT FAIR” They made me feel this way! It’s not right! Believe me I know and understand it (too well).

The counselling of the 70’s taught us to get in touch with ourselves, and before that we were supposed to “find ourselves”.

Secular counselling teachings us to be justifiably angry over the injustices committed against us, where as the bible teaches us to realize we have all sinned, and none of us deserves a thing, but Jesus paid the price for us anyway.

(Talk about unjust!) Why did he (an innocent person) have to suffer such horrific agony and pain to redeem us?

He didn’t have to, thats the point. He wanted to. WANTED TO! For the Joy OF YOU set before him……Jesus went to the cross. FOR YOU!

‘We’ve got a right to be angry…..” (Pat Benetar croons) and yes we do, (have the right). But Is it right? Really?

I’ve had fits of anger, but it never healed me.

Raging anger gets us in trouble, stuffed anger makes us depressed. What do we do with the rage we feel over injustice?

Having God point out our sin (again and again) does not build our “Self-Esteem” so let’s just be honest about it, right now.

Many people will never see (Or admit this) but the reason so many are rejecting the gospel today is because it does not make them feel good about themselves. Supposedly “what they did” is worse than “what I have done.”

Our sense of Value and worth needs to come from the truth that “WE” are just as sinful as “THEY ARE” but Jesus paid the price to save us from ourselves.

If you understand your vaue and worth from God’s view point, nobody can ever take that from you. You are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139).

God cares, but sometimes he allows people to suffer in NOT having all that makes them feel good about themselves, so they can learn what their value is to him. This is what is meant by “buy from me Gold refined in the fire” (Rev 3:18).

For you see…..Good feelings and “Feelings of self worth” achieved by what we do, accolades, applause, none of it is lasting ………..

I”m glad I suffered. Glad I was lonely and alone at times, destitute, rejected, and forlorn. It was during those times God taught me what my worth is TO HIM. Had I not suffered, I’m not sure I ever would have been propelled to seek him, and find out. Now I know, I am worth so much to Jesus, he would have died JUST FOR ME. My sin of rejecting him was even more horrible than any rejection I have ever experienced.

And he forgave me for it…………I cried out for his Mercy….and he granted it to me. That’s the only reason I’m here to tell the story.

“…….knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, 19 but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.” 1 Peter 1: 18 and 19

Healing and Life & Freedom from strife

Sharing something personal with you……..beautiful blue scene.jpg

We dream of a world where THAT never happens again whatever it is. Nobody ever lies to us again.

Nobody ever hurts us again. Sometimes we grow up thinking “when I grow up” Nobody is going to (Make me) go through that again. It could be anything.

Maybe making you feel ashamed of your clothes. That happened long ago but some person just made a wicked comnent that sent you through the roof, and you don’t know why? How could their words hurt me so much (you wonder?)

I’ve been saved and serving God for 30 years. There are things that still can get under my skin, mess me up, and make me feel like I am not a new creature at all in Jesus. I AM (how do U know?) because the first thing I think is “Help me Jesus’ not ‘Going to kill them now” LOL

WE ALL suffer different things in life and if it happens at an impressionable age it can really affect us for life (without God’s help) Without God I’d have been on a whole lot of meds I can tell you that.

I can study psychology and see very plainly I had “PTSD” as they call it. When you “Freak out” because something reminds you of a painful moment you thought you forgot. When you “see red” because someone said something that reminds you of a painful time you have tucked away in a closet somewhere.

You are NOT going to realize these things without God’s help or someone (to hold you accountable) which could be a counsellor or a really wise friend if you have one to talk to. I was hurt by someone this week that Loves me and I know I love them but. It still hurt. A LOT. I Know from past experience not to freak out. I prayed, I waited, (prayed more) and finally approached them about it. I made calm decisions what I am going to do about it too.

I Worked through my FEELINGS that made me want to freak out. I assessed it all with God’s help. Why? because I learned the hard way I can make matters worse if I freak out and start saying things I regret.

this is called working out your Salvation (in God) this passage in Phillipians is talking to BELIEVERS (not unbelievers) Philippians 2:12 [ Light Bearers ] “Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling” Have a great weekend friends! Love you dearly! Laura Grace

Straining gnats and swallowing camels……Matthew 23- “the warning”

magnifying glass

Matthew 23:24 “Blind guides, who strain out a gnat and swallow a camel!”
SOMETHING GOD SAID TO ME Awhile back “They are building a church, but not my Kingdom, and it’s eating them up inside………”
Pharisees prided themselves on how cautious they were, and how protective they were of God’s word. They were not aware of the pride growing subtly within them, as they prodeeded with no caution- as far as examining themselves, and their own hearts. They thought they’d arrived.
We have some today- who protect the building of the church, and consider themselves to be supervisors (and experts) of God’s own word.
They are so busy protecting themselves, shielding themselves, and building giant barricades to keep out evil, they fail to see the heart of God– behind every word Jesus spoke.
Self-righteousness, Pride, selfish ambitions, greed, lust, (for power not just drugs or alchohol) Are very real threats to the human soul. Why else would Jesus (and his Apostles) warn about these things so much? “take heed to yourself” (The preacher cries.)
Luke 11:35
“Therefore take heed that the light which is in you is not darkness”
In being so careful and examining things, the Pharisees missed the miracles. They missed (Out) On Jesus, the son of God. They missed out on everything God intended for them, and they were so sure (oh so sure) they were full of God’s light. He tried to warn them, but they were so focused on protecting themselves, They did not really hear him at all.
They Judged Jesus’ ways. And, cross-examined him.
If a drop of rain falls (on your head) and you needed that rain, do you examine it to see if it’s really rain at all? Or do you question where it came from? “He must be from the devil,” They said, for he did not measure up to the former words of God the way THEY Undestood it. The trouble is, they didn’t understand God’s word at all. Jesus was trying to show them, but they would not listen (or hear).
When I pray for something I don’t care who (the answer) comes from. I expect Jesus can answer any way he wants to. GOD RAISES UP THE HEAVENLY ARMOR within us as we grow in Him and study his Word WITH The Holy Spirit as our guide. He does the work. He’s the Author and finisher of our faith (and our Salvaton) which is why all the glory goes to him, not to us! We aren’t going to be commended for how SMART we are we will be commended for having Faith IN HIM!
Therefore, Pride has no place in us (or our hearts) there is no reason for any self =righteous Indignation. When we see ourselves becoming all angry about how we are not listened to or followed, we can see pride and/or self-righteousess has taken root in our heart(s).
God spoke to me about some pride I had……in an area of my life. I’m so glad he did, and he has done it before, and I pray he will do it again! And yes I did something about it. I endured the humiliation so he can make me free!
Pride you have to go! Self righteousness, you have no place in me! I Resist you satan! Get away from me with your lies and delusions of granduer! I ask you Holy Spirit to teach my heart. I ask you Jesus to purify my soul and cause me to really SEE you and hear you!
IN Jesus’ mighty name, the name above all names. I dont care how much I suffer for it Lord I want YOU And only you! and only your living word! Cleanse my soul Father wash me clean! I renounce everything that is not you Lord!
And by the way Pride doesn’t just go before the fall, it can possibly go before the great falling away…….so here’s your sign. Get rid of it! Ask God to show you if you have it! He will answer that kind of prayer! I Promise, HE WILL.
-Laura Grace (Grace to Grow) peace! and amen
